- What is my Login ID and Password?
Your Luther Rice email address (lastname@student.lutherrice.edu) is your student login for nearly all online services: Student Portal, Blackboard, Student Email, Library Services, E-book Checkouts, etc… Currently, this is not true for the Financial Aid portal (but coming soon) or the Textbook website.

Microsoft Office Software
Luther Rice does offer Office 365 Online (a limited features version) to our students. There is no cost for the Office 365 Online edition. Microsoft Corporation offers their full function version, Microsoft Office 365 University Edition, available to students & teachers at a significant discount. You can purchase Microsoft 365 University Edition at most outlets which sell software (e.g., Office Max, Best Buy, Walmart, Staples, etc…). Click this link

Remember, ScreenShots or ScreenGrabs (an image of your screen with the error) are always helpful. The easiest way to do a screen shot is to use SNIPPET (which comes with Windows 7,8, and 10).
Google Apps Email Access (Windows)
Access Gmail via IMAP in Your Email Program or Mobile Device
To access a Gmail account in your email program or mobile device via the IMAP interface:
- Choose Settings from the top Gmail navigation bar.
- Go to the Forwarding and POP/IMAP tab.
- Make sure Enable IMAP is selected under IMAP Access:.
- Click Save Changes.
- Make sure Access for less secure apps is turned on.
NOTE: Accessing Gmail through IMAP lets you label messages, archive them, report spam and more — comfortably.
Set Up Your Email Client for Gmail IMAP Access
Now set up a new IMAP account in your email client:
- Eudora
- iPhone Mail
- Mac OS X Mail
- Mozilla Thunderbird
- Outlook 2016/2010
- Outlook 2007
- Outlook Express
- Pegasus Mail
- Windows Live Mail desktop
- IMAP server: imap.gmail.com
- Port: 993
- Require SSL: Yes
- Username: your student Gmail account: firstname.lastname@student.lutherrice.edu
- The account name is your full email address: firstname.lastname@student.lutherrice.edu
- Password: your student email password
- SMTP server: smtp.gmail.com
- Port: 465
- Require SSL/STARTTLS: Yes
- Require SMTP authentication: Yes
- Username: your Gmail account name
- Password: your Gmail password
If your email program does not support IMAP or if you prefer to just download newly arriving messages to your computer: Gmail also offers POP access.
Google Apps Email Access (Mobile)
Access Gmail via IMAP in Your Email Program or Mobile Device
To access a Gmail account in your email program or mobile device via the IMAP interface. Begin by logging into your Gmail account using a Windows browser (Google Chrome browser offers the best results when accessing Gmail).
After logging into GMAIL using your Windows internet browser (Chrome, Firefox, etc…) then…
- Choose Settings from the top Gmail navigation bar.

- Click Save Changes.

Set Up Your Email Client for Gmail IMAP Access
Now set up a new IMAP account in your email client:
Use these settings when configuring your mobile Email client.
